Sustainable snow sports collection by Jack Wolfskin

Do skiers consider the environmental impact of their winter sportswear? Well, generally not! But there has been a rethink. Some brands have recognized this change and offer sustainable items and collections. One of them is the German outdoor company Jack Wolfskin, head-quartered in Idstein, in the Taunus region of Germany.

Discover sustainable and eco-friendly outerwear

The new sustainable snow sports collection includes (right now) six jackets and pants for men and four for women. All are equipped with the company’s proprietary Texapore Ecosphere Technology. In addition to using outer fabrics and linings made of 100% recycled materials, Texapore Ecosphere includes a waterproof, breathable membrane also made of 100% recycled materials. Additionally, 100% recycled insulation materials Nanuk Ecosphere and Microguard Ecosphere are used in the ski collection – resulting in half a million PET bottles and 1.7 US tons of fabric recycled in total. All items are PFC-free! The multifunctional premium products guarantee optimal protection from cold and snow and, at the same time, maximum freedom of movement in all winter sports activities.

Retired ski racer Felix Neureuther – the new Jack Wolfskin brand ambassador

As the most successful German alpine ski racer with 13 World Cup victories and 47 podiums, Felix Neureuther is the new face of the Jack Wolfskin winter campaign. The cooperation is focused on sustainability, which is an important topic for both Felix and Jack Wolfskin.

Jack Wolfskin developed this hardshell fabric specifically for action sports. It has multi-directional stretch properties and a pleasantly soft feel.

As part of the partnership, Felix Neureuther will also contribute to Jack Wolfskin’s product development in the ski and snow sports sector and bring in his extensive experience. For winter 2020, all sports enthusiasts can look forward to a highly technical and innovative collection, which will be developed and tested with Felix.

When you’re playing hard in the snow (or make fun at the top station) you’re going to get warm, so the Big White jacket is equipped with pit zips for a quick blast of fresh air. And there is a ski pass pocket, a snow skirt and a RECCO chip included.

I hope this short article makes you think. And may help you to decide the next time you invest in a new ski jacket. Sustainability should be a factor, not only performance, price, design and fit.

NICE TO SKI YOU
Cheers,
Peter
