Cortina – the queen of the Alps
Cortina d’Ampezzo, or simply Cortina, is a gem of sheer beauty in the heart of the Alps. Set in the wide and sunny Ampezzo Valley, the small town is surrounded in all directions by some of the most scenic peaks of the Dolomite Mountains, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Nature, sports, beauty and lifestyle are the elements that explain why Cortina has been known for decades as the Queen of the Dolomites. The destination has gone all the way from welcoming the first skiers in the 19th century to hosting the Winter Olympics in 1956. After hosting the World Ski Championships in February 2021, Cortina is now preparing for its second Olympic Games: Milano Cortina 2026.
